About the Band
Based in the London Borough of Bexley, Belvedere Concert Band has gained a reputation as one of the leading concert bands in the South-East, attracting both experienced and aspiring musicians from the surrounding areas.
The Band performs a wide repertoire of music, ranging from light classical and traditional music, to music from stage and screen, 'big band' and popular standards. Dependent on the nature of the concert, the Band may engage supporting vocalists, or join forces with a full choir. For most concerts the Band will use its full complement of around 45 musicians, but for certain special occasions, a smaller band may be provided.
In 2005 Belvedere Concert Band was honoured to be invited to play for the Queen's arrival for lunch at Danson House as part of her official visit to Bexley Borough.
Musical Director - Elizabeth Worth BA (Hons), DipABRSM
Elizabeth graduated from the Colchester Institute with first-class honours in 2013. Primarily a clarinettist studying under Charles Hine, she won competitions for solo and duet performances, as well as ensemble performances with the Institute Clarinet Choir, and she was awarded a distinction for her DipABRSM in Clarinet Performance. Elizabeth now primarily works in London and East Anglia, performing regularly in chamber ensembles and as a woodwind doubler for recordings, live musicals and operas.
Since leaving University, Elizabeth continued her studies in conducting under Alice Farnham, in turn becoming a member of the Royal Philharmonic Society of Women Conductors, and in the spring of 2017 she took on her first conductor role as the Musical Director of Belvedere Concert Band. A keen advocate for local community music-making opportunities, she currently holds the position of Conductor with the Bexley Youth Orchestra and recently formed London Pop Up Orchestra, as well as the Poplar Singers in Bow and the British Clarinet Ensemble; a pioneering group that regularly commissions works by contemporary composers throughout the UK. Elizabeth is also involved in running a number of beginner bands and orchestras for children in different areas across London, and volunteers for a number of children's choral schemes in disadvantaged areas.
